The clutch is the first stage in the transmission of a car with a manual gearbox. The clutch is a complicated unit comprising of the clutch plate and the pressure plate which is bolted to the flywheel. These components need to work simultaneously together to create the pressure needed to engage and disengage the power from the wheels.
Every time the clutch is engaged, the clutch disc and other components are subjected to considerable heat, friction and wear – your clutch will not last forever.
At Hart Transmissions, this is what we specialise in – upgrading, supplying and fitting new clutches and flywheels. In some circumstance’s clutches may be able to be reconditioned.
Common Clutch Problems include:
- Clutch slipping
- Clutch shudder
- Clutch grabbing or sticking
- Change in the feel of the clutch pedal
- Clutch squeal on disengagement
If you are experiencing anything unusual when engaging or disengaging the clutch, please contact us and arrange a free inspection and test drive.
